Reading Animal Farm

March 15th, 2009

I am extremely interested in this book. I was scared at first, knowing that it was all about Communism and would require much research about the history of Communism and what was going on at the time that Orwell (or Eric Blair) was writing the novel, but recently I feel that I have learned more in a couple days about Stalin than my entire year in Government with Mr. Brunson. I started writing my first annotation, and found a very interesting comparison of characters to real world rulers (no, this does not count as one of my criticism sources) but the website was (http://barney.gonzaga.edu/~sbennet3/mead/lessonplans/animalfarm.htm). This website was extremely helpful with helping me understand the characters’ purposes. As for tomorrow, I am off to the Oakland University Library to see the scary lady at the front desk, and hopefully find some criticism.
